This page explains how to delete your account in Sparkhop, the wishlist app by Rakhat Zhumaev on the App Store and Google Play, what is deleted, and what we keep and why. You do not need to reinstall the App or install anything else: you can delete your account in the App, or by e-mail if you cannot open the App.
Before you delete your account, you can save a copy of your data: in the App, open Settings and tap Download my data.
Delete your account in the App
- Open Sparkhop and make sure you are signed in to the account you want to delete.
- On the Home screen, tap the gear button (Settings) at the top right.
- Scroll to the end of Settings and tap Delete account.
- Read the confirmation Delete account? It reminds you of two things,
neither of which stops the deletion:
- if you pay for Plus through the App Store or Google Play, the subscription is not cancelled by deleting the account; the Manage subscription button opens your store’s subscription settings so you can cancel it;
- if you have Plus from a family, you lose it.
- Tap Delete.
- On iPhone, if you signed in with Apple, the Apple window opens once more. Confirm it, so that Apple removes Sparkhop’s access to your Apple ID.
- If you last signed in more than 15 minutes ago, the App asks you to confirm that it is you with the sign-in you use (Apple or Google). If you cancel this step, nothing is deleted and you can try again.
- When the deletion is done, the App signs you out. We do not send an e-mail.
If you cancel the Apple window in step 6 but you signed in less than 15 minutes ago, the account is still deleted; Sparkhop may then stay listed in your Apple ID settings until you remove it there, under Sign in with Apple in the settings of your Apple Account.
Delete your account by e-mail
If you cannot open the App, write to privacy@sparkhop.app with the subject “Delete my account”.
- Write from the e-mail address of your Sparkhop account, so we can tell that the account is yours.
- If you signed in with Apple and chose to hide your e-mail address, or you no longer use that address, write from any address and give your Sparkhop username. We will ask you to confirm in a way that shows the account is yours before we delete anything.
We delete the account the same way as the App does, within one month of your request at the latest, and reply when it is done.
What is deleted
When you confirm, your account is deleted at once. Copies of your data in our other systems (photo storage, caches, per-account counters) are removed by background steps that start at the same moment and are repeated until they succeed.
- your profile, username, profile photo, sessions and sign-in links (Apple, Google);
- your lists, wishes and their photos, Quick Adds, likes, follows, shares and invitation links;
- the reservations you made on other people’s lists;
- your price tracking;
- your notifications, notification settings and push tokens;
- the record of the Terms of Use version you accepted, and your AI consent record;
- your 18+ setting and age confirmation;
- the problem reports and ideas you sent while signed in, with their screenshots and photos;
- the reports you filed and your blocks;
- your family membership. A family in which you are the only member is deleted with you. If you were the only owner of a family with other members, the member who joined first becomes its owner.
Deletion cannot be undone. A new account made later, even with the same Apple or Google sign-in, starts empty.
What we keep, for how long and why
| What | How long | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Wishes you marked as bought on other people’s lists: the mark stays, without your name | As long as the wish exists | So nobody buys the same gift twice. The list owner learns nothing new |
| Reports other people filed about you or your content, and our decisions on them. Your deleted content is not kept with them, only a reference to it | While we need them to deal with repeated abuse; we have not set a fixed period yet | Safety and enforcing our rules |
| Your subscription record, no longer linked to your account | 2,555 days (about 7 years) after its last paid period ends | Accounting and reconciliation with the app store |
| The log of subscription events from our subscription provider | 400 days | Reconciliation with the app store |
| Notices of illegal content you sent | Your name and e-mail address 180 days after the decision; the notice and decision 1,095 days (3 years) after the decision | Our duties for handling such notices |
| Information we must keep by law, for example for a child-safety investigation | Until the legal duty ends; the record that it was kept 1,825 days (5 years) after that | Legal obligation |
| Problem reports sent without signing in | 365 days after they were sent | They are not linked to any account, so we cannot find them as yours |
| Server logs | 7 days | Security and fixing problems |
| Backups of our database kept by our database provider | Until each backup expires on the provider’s rolling schedule | Recovery after a failure. We never use a backup to bring back a deleted account |
The App Store and Google Play keep their own records of your purchases under their own policies.
Subscriptions
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play. Cancel it in the store:
- iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
- Android: Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
