This policy applies to any user-generated content that can become visible to others in Sparkhop, including:
- profile text and photo,
- list names and descriptions,
- wishes and photos attached to wishes,
- public and shared links,
- reports you file.
Sparkhop is provided by Rakhat Zhumaev, an individual developer. Contact: support@sparkhop.app.
Core rules
Users must not post content that is:
- illegal,
- abusive,
- harassing,
- hateful,
- sexual or exploitative,
- spammy,
- misleading,
- infringing,
- doxxing,
- violent or threatening,
- malware or phishing,
- otherwise harmful.
How content is checked
Moderation is automatic and deferred; no human reviews content in the standard process. A person decides an appeal of a photo that no automatic check can judge, a report, a notice of illegal content and a legal hold.
- Saving never waits for the check. When you create or change a wish, a list, your profile or a photo, it is saved at once and the changed text or photo is queued for an automated check.
- You see your own content at once. Everybody else, including the people you share a list with, your family group, visitors of a public list or profile, search, feeds, discovery and caches, sees new or changed content only after the check approves it. The co-authors of a list (the people who can edit it) see that a change is waiting for the check.
- The checker is an automated model (Cloudflare Workers AI, “Clef”) that returns approved or rejected with a reason category from the rules above.
- If the check cannot run (for example the safety budget is used up or the service is unavailable), content stays visible only to you until it has been checked. It is never shown to others unchecked. Only a photo that is really gone is removed from the wish: the website says it does not exist (404 or 410), or its address is one our safety guard refuses. A photo we cannot read for any other reason (the website refuses our server with 401 or 403, a security or “verify you are human” page, a page or an empty answer instead of an image, a format we cannot read, a photo larger than 3.75 MiB, or timeouts that go on) is kept for you, marked “Photo not checked”, and hidden from others. We do not check it again by ourselves: it stays hidden from others until you replace it with another photo.
- Photos from shops and other websites. When a wish shows a photo from a shop or another website (it stays at that address; we do not copy it), our server downloads it for the check and does not keep it. The photo is checked once per image address: if the same address was checked before, that result is reused (for another wish with the same photo, in any list); otherwise one check is made and its result serves every later wish with that address. If the check rejects the address, the photo is rejected in every wish that holds it, in every list, including wishes where an earlier result had approved it; the owner of each of those wishes gets the usual in-app notice (the reason category) and may appeal, as for any rejected photo. A copy of a rejected photo added later takes the same rejection with no new check; the way back is an appeal. Only a person (an administrator who upholds an appeal) clears a rejected address; a later approval by the automatic check does not. This happens only when the automatic check itself rejects the photo. It does not happen for a legal hold, for an appeal that is upheld, or for a decision of a person. The link to the photo or to the shop page is chosen by the person who adds the wish, so a photo is never trusted for coming from “a shop”. A photo can change at its address after we checked it, because we do not copy it; a report makes us look at the photo as it is then.
- Edits start a new check for the changed text or photo only. Your visibility choice (private, shared, public) is never changed by moderation.
We may later stop checking in advance the text of small private lists that only the people you invited can open. We will update this policy before such a change.
18+ content (adult rating)
Besides approving or rejecting, the automated check gives approved wishes, lists, profile text and photos a content rating: general or 18+. The rating is separate from the rules above and does not change them.
- What is 18+: adult products such as sex toys, latex or fetish gear, BDSM items, erotic lingerie and costumes, other products for adults only, and a suggestive presentation of a product without nudity. Ordinary underwear, swimwear and sportswear shown the way a normal catalogue shows them are not 18+.
- What is still rejected, not rated: explicit nudity or pornography, intimate (sexual) services, anything involving minors, and links to paid adult-content platforms. Links to such platforms are also refused up front when you save a wish or your profile text.
- 18+ content is never recommended. It does not appear in feeds, trending, the Inspiration shelves, widgets, Siri and shortcut suggestions, notifications (including price-drop alerts), share previews or other people’s profile collections, for anybody. In search it appears only for signed-in people who turned on “Show 18+” and chose to see 18+ results.
- Where it can be seen: inside a list that the person opened on purpose (their own, one shared with them, or a public list opened by a link), and in the 18+ search results described above. The list owner always sees their own content. Other people see it only if they turned on “Show 18+” in their settings; photos stay blurred until tapped. Without the setting, and for guests, an 18+ wish is shown as a placeholder (“Hidden: 18+”) and the totals do not change.
- The setting is off by default and needs two separate actions: confirming that you are at least 18 (the age signal of your device or app store where available, otherwise a neutral birth-date screen; the birth date is not stored, only the fact and time of confirmation) and a separate consent. An under-age signal locks the setting. On iOS the setting is turned on through the website, not in the app.
- Edits start a new check, as for any content; the rating can change with it.
Rejected content and appeals
- Rejected content remains visible only to you, marked as rejected, with the reason category, and you are notified in the App.
- You can edit and resubmit it (a new check), or appeal.
- Appeal: one additional automated check with a stronger model and a different prompt and threshold; the number of appeals per user is limited. An appeal of a photo too large for the model is decided by a person instead.
- If a rejected photo can no longer be downloaded for the appeal (for example the shop removed it from its website), the appeal ends without a new check and the rejection stays. You can replace the photo with another one.
- A person can look again. If you disagree with the result of an appeal, or with any other decision about your content or account, write to support@sparkhop.app. A person will look at it and answer you.
Tools available to users
- report content,
- report user,
- block user (takes effect immediately, always),
- hide content you reported (it disappears for you at once),
- delete your own content,
- appeal a rejection (once).
Reports
When a report is received:
- The reported content disappears for you at once.
- The automated model does not read the report. An administrator reads it and decides; the order of the administrators’ queue is set by rule from the reason you chose (danger to life or safety and child safety come first).
- The action is recorded in an audit log.
- Accounts that repeatedly violate the rules may be rate limited, suspended or banned by an administrator.
Notices of illegal content
Anyone, with or without an account, can tell us about content they believe is illegal by writing to support@sparkhop.app. Please include:
- the link to the content, or the name of the list or profile and its owner,
- why you believe it is illegal, and under which law where you can say,
- your name and e-mail address (you may leave out your name if the notice is about child sexual abuse material),
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the notice is accurate and complete.
We confirm receipt, decide without undue delay, and tell you the decision and how to contest it. We tell the person whose content we restrict what we did and why, unless the law or a risk to someone’s safety prevents it.
Handling of repeat violations
Accounts that repeatedly violate policy may be:
- rate limited,
- temporarily suspended,
- permanently banned (administrator action).
Limits of automated moderation
Automated checks make mistakes. Use the appeal and the contact above if you think a decision was wrong. We do not guarantee that all violating content is detected.
Urgent reports
If content shows a risk to someone’s life or safety, or the sexual abuse of a child, report it in the App (these reasons come first in our queue) and also write to support@sparkhop.app with “Urgent” in the subject. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. We report child sexual abuse material to the competent authorities as the law requires.
Review reward warning
We do not offer rewards for reviews, and nobody should be promised a reward for leaving a positive review.
